Week 4 of didactics of English I
Week 4 - Review
February 13/15
We had the pleasure of using a mood cube to create sentences with the direct method thanks to the visual aid, and we also put the GTM method into practice, by translating a song and poem, similar to last week, in class, we practiced the methods to better understand how small exercises can help us to understand and use the language.

During this week we got to know the Silent Way method it is based on the idea that language learning can be enhanced in three main ways: discovery rather than teaching; problem-solving in the target language; and the use of physical tools.
Every teaching method the silent way method has its own way of development, with its main principles and techniques to be developed in the classroom.
Main Principles:
- Start with familiar sounds.
- Allow students to use their own Knowledge of language learning.
- Student attention to the teacher is important.
- Errors are important and necessary for learning.
- Transfer what students know already to new ideas.
- Teacher takes a back seat. The more you help- the less they learn. Praise is not helpful.
- Progress is more important than perfection.
- No homework, as learning continues while we sleep.
Techniques
- The chart contains blocks of color, each one representing a sound in the target language. The teacher, and later the students, points to blocks of color on the chart to form syllables, words, and even sentences.
Practice
Each block of color represents a sound in this case, the color white = pronouns, orange = nouns, red = conjuctions and yellow = verbs. the sentences is: My friends and I played secret friend for Valentine's day so we decided to buy flowers.
