During this week, the presentations were completed, and the evaluations were carried out.
The Grammar Translation Method
The method is often referred to as the traditional or classical method of translation. What it means for grammar-translation is that students will learn and memorize the grammatical rules of both the target language and their native language.
- S: gives more emphasis on grammar, sentence structure, and meaning.
- O: focus on grammar, sentence structure, and word meaning from the text, and don't give any specific approaches to pronunciation skills.
- W: gives more active learning processes to the students rather than the teacher.
- T: seemed like a non-interactive method.
There's less contact from the teachers with the students because they just learn from a text.
The Direct Method
Also known as the Natural Method, emphasizes teaching a language through immersion and direct communication, mirroring the way a child learns their first language.

- S: Students learn the new language based on observation, and language acquisition is similar to the mother tongue-
- O: The interaction of students not only with teachers but also with each other
- W: Students have the opportunity to practice correction with their classmates.
- T: There are many abstract words which cannot be interpreted directly in the target language and much time and energy are wasted in making attempts for the purpose
The Audiolingual Method
A method of foreign language teaching where the emphasis is on learning grammatical and phonological structure, especially for speaking and listening.
Sounds relational with color.
Speaking and listening
- S: Listening and speaking skills are emphasized and, especially the former, rigorously developed.
- O: learn more words
- W: Sometimes the students are confused because the teacher explains the material in a simple way not in a detailed way.
- T: is a little bit distracting for the students
The Silent Way
It is based on the premise that the teacher should be silent as much as possible in the classroom, but the learner should be encouraged to produce as much language as possible.
Students talk more.
- S: more relaxing
- O: agility
- W: get sleepy
- T: can be boring
Suggestopedia
Is a teaching method, which makes it possible for people to learn three times as fast as they can under normal circumstances. It involves the creation of a very safe environment in which students are allowed to explore, but they have to feel safe.
Using to music
Improve creativity.
Feel safe.
- S: less stress
- O: mental creativity
- W: without concentration
- T: Distraction of the meaningful task
Total, Physical Response
Or TPR as it is popularly known is a language learning method that has body movement and language acquisition at its core. Moving the body, singing, and dancing all work very well in this method as it helps the learner cement the action and the meaning with its association in their heads.
Meaning associations use the body to teach
- S: improves memory retention, making it easier for students to recall vocabulary and grammar structures
- O: learn a variety of commands
- W: in grammar because not have a focus on that
- T: It is limited since everything cannot be explained with this method. It must be combined with other approaches.
