Week 17 of Didactics of English I

Week 17 - Review

May 21 / 23

During this week we learned different ways of teaching.

What are Jazz Chants?

“Jazz Chants are Carolyn Graham's snappy,

upbeat chants and poems that use jazz

rhythms to illustrate the natural stress and

intonation patterns of conversational

American English.”

Also, this week my classmates shared with us ways to teach and learn based on our level and ability in the target language.

  1. The first team explains more about Grammar, the rules of a language governing the sounds, words, sentences, and other elements, as well as their combination and interpretation.
  2. The second group explained that English vocabulary is fundamental to learning and teaching the English language because without sufficient knowledge of vocabulary people cannot understand others or express their own ideas.
  3. The third group talked about pronunciation which is important when learning English as it helps us to avoid communication problems. One must speak and pronounce words correctly as a mispronounced vowel or consonant can lead to confusion. In addition, it gives us confidence to converse and helps us to better understand native speakers.
  4. The fourth group explained listening comprehension, which allows us to understand what others are saying and respond appropriately. By listening, we are exposed to new words and expressions. This enriches our vocabulary and helps us communicate more accurately.
