The last Week 18 of Didactics of English I

Week 18 - Review  May 28 / 30 During this week the groups finished presenting their topics, the presentations were dynamic, entertaining, and enjoyable, we also completed our last exam to finish the didactics I semester. The fifth group explains Reading Comprehension , intermediate level, which is the ability to read a text, process it and understand its meaning. It is based on two interconnected skills: word reading (being able to decode the symbols on the page) and linguistic comprehension (being able to understand the meaning of words and phrases). The sixth group explains more about Grammar , the rules of a language according to the language level of the student, in order to better express their ideas. The seventh group shares with us the importance of learning Vocabulary because it is fundamental to learning any language. Week 17 - Review  May 21 / 23 During this week we learned different ways of teaching. What are Jazz Chants?  “Jazz Chants are Carolyn Graham's snappy,  upbeat chants and poems that use jazz  rhythms to illustrate the natural stress and  intonation patterns of conversational  American English.” Also, this week my classmates shared with us ways to teach and learn based on our level and ability in the target language.  The first team explains more about Grammar , the rules of a language governing the sounds, words, sentences, and other elements, as well as their combination and interpretation. The second group explained that English vocabulary is fundamental to learning and teaching the English language because without sufficient knowledge of vocabulary people cannot understand others or express their own ideas. Week 16 - Review  May 14 / 16 During this week we learned different ways of teaching, so it was a week where we studied a lot. The first thing is to learn what each step is to be able to teach, there are different ways to learn a new language, so we must learn its forms. Week 15 - Review  May 07 / 09 During this week we learned about  Describing Teachers To better understand this topic, we must take into consideration certain aspects such as: It is important to keep these aspects in mind if we want to be a teacher someday. Teacher’s role in the classroom A. Controller: Leading from the front. B. Prompter: When students forget something, such as the instructions of a task, the teacher is there to remind them. C. Participant: Taking an active role; for example, in a class discussion. D. Resource: When students ask the teacher’s help. For example, when they don’t know what the meaning of a word is. E. Tutor: When giving feedback about a large project.  Also, during this week, we made an audio on Vocaroo where we say how has been our experience with all the teachers we have had, besides answering if we would like to be teachers someday. Week 14 - Review  April 30 / May 02 During this week we learned about Describing learners To better understand this topic, we must take into consideration certain aspects such as: Age:  It is different to learn for each age we go through, childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. Learner Differences:  There are different ways of learning, we can find out through different tests and know our way of learning. Language Levels:  In the world, there are different levels of knowledge of another language, according to their level in the new language. Their Motivation:  It is important to have motivation to accomplish your objectives, so you must have a goal or reason for learning something new. Background: No matter your country or nationality, to learn something new, all students are valuable for that reason each one should be respected when teaching something new to them.
